How to read a roadmap
Read any tree at a glance.
One meaning per visual cue, never colour alone — so a customer who has never seen your roadmap knows what’s live, what’s next and what they can influence.
Shape tells you the kind
Circles are new features. Rounded squares improve something that exists. Octagons are choices your customers vote on.
The ring shows progress
Filled in when it’s shipped, a growing arc while it’s being built, dotted while you’re still exploring.
Colour means area
Every product area gets its own soft colour — collapse it, filter by it and see its progress.
Size shows what matters
Big bets are drawn larger and keep their name even when you zoom out.
Pips count the phases
Real features ship in phases — Beta, launch, advanced. Little pips show how far along each one is.
Hearts are your votes
Hearts only ever mean customer votes: a dotted ring on what you backed, and your hearts fly home when it ships.
Milestones, phases & ideas
Sequencing without a Gantt chart.
Milestones are the bars across the tree (a release or a quarter) that open when the features before them ship. Big features ship in phases, and the far end of the tree holds your Ideas: things you are still exploring.
- Release and quarter milestones with a live progress track — “V1.0 · 9/12 shipped”.
- Phases: 2–8 phases per feature (Beta → GA → Advanced); a dependent can unlock on a single phase.
- Generate quarter milestones from targets in one click; auto-arrange keeps the lattice tidy.
- Two looks from one model: the root crest on top like a classic skill tree, or flipped to grow up from the ground like the Tree of Up.
Vote mode
Customers put their hearts on what they want.
No account needed to vote. Votes stay a draft until “Save my votes”, and a saved set of votes is a link people love to share.
A budget, not endless upvotes
Every visitor gets 10 votes a season and at most 3 per feature. A small budget turns “+1” into a real priority signal.
Choices, not wishlists
Choice features let customers split their votes between options. You decide — votes on the other options go straight back.
Votes come home
When a feature ships its votes return, and everyone who backed it hears: “Your pick shipped — your 3 votes are back.”
Suggest a feature
Customers can add to the tree, not just vote on it.
“Missing something?” opens a two-field form. Ideas land in your Feedback inbox; accept one and it joins your Ideas, ready for votes at once.
- Guests suggest with a display name — no email collected; signed-in suggesters hear the outcome.
- Accept, decline with a note, or mark as a duplicate (the suggester follows the existing feature).
- Insights show demand per feature, demand passed down from what depends on it, and choice splits.
Early discovery and research

Everyone in the editor sees each other’s cursors, selection rings and drag ghosts. Click an avatar to follow their camera.
- Edits cross in under a second, with per-user undo and redo that never undoes someone else.
- Roles: owner, admin, editor, collaborator and viewer — collaborators comment and prioritise, viewers read.
- Invite by email or copy an invite link; teams power team-only maps.
Changelog, RSS & notifications
The tree stays honest by itself.
Every status change is recorded. That one history powers the changelog, RSS, the “since your last visit” replay and notifications.
- Ship a feature and attach a “What’s new” note — it becomes the changelog entry.
- Followers and backers are told when their picks ship, with their votes refunded.
- Returning visitors get “3 things shipped since your last visit · Replay”.

Visibility is enforced on every surface — pages, share cards, embeds, feeds and the realtime channel — and denied maps look exactly like maps that don’t exist.
- Maps start private; publishing is one dialog with a live preview of the share card.
- Password-protected maps, team-only maps and revocable share links with optional expiry.
- No guest emails are collected; anonymous voters are a salted device key, never an IP.
